Casals Northern Uganda Project Among USAID Photo Contest Winners

This image taken by Brenda Onyutta, media and communications coordinator on the DI/Casals USAID OTI Northern Uganda Transition Initiative (NUTI)project in Gulu, Uganda earned top-12 honors in USAID’s FrontLines Magazine photo contest.  The photo documents women dancing in a competition put on by USAID’s NUTI, which encourages northerners to celebrate their culture, return home, and take pride in their communities after a 23-year civil war. During the competition, the photographer learned the stories behind each of the dances.
