Spanish-Language
Public Outreach Activities for SAMHSA
C&A researched and
designed a comprehensive public outreach framework for the U.S. Substance
Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to be used in the
culturally appropriate adaptation of English materials into the Spanish
language. C&A conducted focus groups around the country and worked with
nationally recognized experts to determine what messages, topics, and ideas
were necessary to include and/or exclude in the adapted Spanish-language
informational materials. This research included identifying and addressing
regional culture and language idiosyncrasies. C&A also advised SAMHSA
on culturally appropriate ways to disseminate existing Spanish-language
print materials and those being adapted into the Spanish language.
